☀️ Sunbather Wireless App: Real-Time Solar Pool Heating Insights 🌡

Our new Sunbather Wireless App puts the power of real-time data in your hands. Track your pool’s performance like never before:
kWh Energy Saved
COP (Coefficient of Performance) over a 24-hour period

With detailed insights into your roof and pool water temperatures, plus inline returning water temperatures, we calculate your system’s true performance with precision. Factor in your solar pump size and collector area, and you’ll see the remarkable efficiency of the giant fusion reactor in the sky—the Sun.

Why Choose Pool Solar?
🌞 Year-Round Reliability: Unlike heat pumps, which struggle in cooler weather, pool solar thrives on the Sun’s heat, even during cooler months.
🌍 Unmatched Efficiency: One of our customers compared heating with a heat pump to pouring a tablespoon of warm water into a bucket—it’ll get there eventually but with significant energy use. Pool solar? It’s like using a jug of water—quick, efficient, and effective.

Skip the marketing hype and experience the true efficiency of solar energy. With Sunbather, you’ll save money, reduce energy consumption, and enjoy a warm pool all season long—no blanket required!

What is SCOP? Understanding Heat Pump Efficiency

If you’re shopping for pool heating, you’ve probably heard of COP (Coefficient of Performance), but what about SCOP? Let’s break it down:

SCOP stands for Seasonal Coefficient of Performance. It’s a more accurate way to measure how efficiently a heat pump works throughout the year, accounting for different weather conditions.

Here’s why SCOP matters:

  • Standard COP tests can be misleading because they’re often done in ideal conditions (warm temperatures), which don’t reflect real life.
  • SCOP testing, on the other hand, measures performance at three different temperatures:
    • 7°C (cold days)
    • 15°C (mild days)
    • 26°C (warm days)

Each of these results is weighted and combined to give a final SCOP score, rated from A to F:

  • A = Best efficiency (SCOP of 7 or higher)
  • F = Poor efficiency (SCOP of 1 or lower)

Why It Matters:

A heat pump with a high SCOP (like 8) uses 37.5% less electricity than one with a lower SCOP (like 5). That means lower energy bills and better performance in all weather conditions—exactly what you need for efficient pool heating!

When choosing a system, look for the SCOP rating—it’s the key to saving money and enjoying reliable warmth year-round.

Sizing Your Pool Heating Source: Get It Right the First Time!

When it comes to heating your pool or spa, proper sizing is critical. Choosing a system that’s too small can leave you frustrated and underwhelmed, even with a pool blanket.

Here’s what to keep in mind:

1️⃣ Beware of Inflated Numbers

Some systems boast high performance, but the reality may fall short. Always ask for detailed performance data to ensure you’re getting what’s promised.

2️⃣ Insulation Matters

Poor insulation of pool or spa surrounds can waste valuable heat. Insulation paired with the right-sized heating system ensures maximum efficiency.

3️⃣ Maximize COP Efficiency

A properly sized heat pump will spend more time operating at its optimal Coefficient of Performance (COP), giving you better heating for less energy. Avoid systems that force your pump to work harder than necessary at the lower end of the COP.

By sizing accurately and focusing on true performance, you’ll enjoy a warmer pool, lower energy bills, and a stress-free swimming season.

Auckland, NZ. Season end Aug - May

Key Benefits of Pool Solar:

  1. Extended Pool Season: Unlike heat pumps that depend on electricity and specific weather conditions, pool solar works efficiently throughout the year, taking full advantage of the Sun’s energy.
  2. Energy Efficiency: Solar heating uses significantly less energy compared to a heat pump, with savings ranging from 12k-30k kWh per season, depending on your system size.
  3. No Need for Decisions: With pool solar, you don’t need to think about whether or not to turn on the heater—it’s powered by the sun, making it a hassle-free solution for a longer swim season.
