Pricing Information
The cost of pool heating varies based on multiple factors, making it difficult to provide an exact estimate. However, in most cases, pool solar heating is more cost-effective than a heat pump of equivalent size.
While you can purchase a heat pump for around $5,000, its long-term performance and running costs should be considered. An over sized pool solar heating system delivers much larger heating performance to a heat pump but at a fraction of the operating cost. Over 10 years, running a heat pump can cost approximately $50,000, whereas pool solar heating typically costs no more than $6,000 over the same period.
Our pool solar heating systems range from approximately 30kW equivalent output to over 80kW, offering a performance coefficient (COP) between 80 and 140. Seasonal running costs are typically between $450 and $600, making it the most cost-effective way to heat your pool.

Real-World Performance Example
Here’s an example of a PSH solar system in action in Auckland (December 2024):
- 80 sqm system
- 900-watt pump
- Roof temperature: 62°C
- Returning water temperature (2 PM): 48°C
The results are impressive: outstanding COP and kWh savings that amount to approximately $900 saved at $0.33 per kWh. By controlling water flow and optimizing system settings, we were able to maximize the system’s efficiency and produce very hot water from the solar collectors.

FAQ -
Why Choose Us?
With over 35 years of experience, we understand that installing pool solar heating systems on roofs requires precision and expertise. Working at heights demands careful planning to ensure your system is installed safely and performs reliably for years. You’ll deal directly with us—no middlemen. Our skilled team handles the entire installation, ensuring quality and top performance every step of the way.
When’s the Best Time to Install Your Pool Solar Heating System?
We recommend installing your solar heating system during the cooler months, ideally in the middle of the year. During peak summer, our schedule fills up quickly, and installing early ensures your system is ready before the heat arrives. Planning ahead helps avoid any delays, so you can enjoy your pool as soon as the weather warms up!
How Do I Choose the Right Size System for My Pool?
Don’t worry—we’ll work with you to determine the ideal system size for your pool and roof. For the best results, we often suggest oversizing the system to ensure optimal performance, longer swimming seasons, and maximum energy efficiency.
